Sailed from Falmouth, Cornwall on a ship, Roslyn Castle, a Captian Sadler in command. It took over six weeks to reach Quebec, Canada, where the Paulls disembarked. They boarded another boat to Montreal and from there rode three miles in horsecars to the Wellington Canal. From there they went by canal boat to Kingston, Ontario, Canada, and journeyed from Kingston to Toronto. Next they went south by steamboat across Lake Ontario to Queenston. In horsecars they rode past the Canadian side of Niagara Falls to Chippawa, Ontario and then crossed the U.S. border near Buffalo, New Yor,. Theri next destination was Milwaukee. Here a teamster was hired to take the women, children and baggage to Dodgeville while the men walked. They reached Madison in three days, and Dodgevillle in five days.
